The police have not yet made any arrest in the case in which an unknown suspect shot an American businessman dead in Otjiwarongo during April.
The American businessman has been identified as Denzil Emanuel Persaud, 56, it is not clear how long he has lived in Namibia. Chief Inspector Roy Makwatikizo from the Otjozondjupa police department recently informed New Era no one has been arrested yet.
An unknown person shot Persaud dead at his residence in the forehead and under the jaw at close range.
The suspect first smashed the front left window of the deceased’s Ford Ranger pick-up that was parked outside with a brick. The alarm went off, and the deceased was awoken by the alarm. It is alleged the deceased fired two shots through his bedroom window to scare away the suspect, the police said after the incident.
The alleged robber opened the door to Persaud’s vehicle when he (Persaud) decided to come out of the house to close it.
As he walked towards the vehicle, the suspect who was apparently lurking nearby allegedly opened fire on him at close range killing him on the spot. The businessman was shot twice. He fell on his stomach and died instantly.
The deceased’s pistol was found lying next to him, while his car keys were found in his right hand.
Police investigations are continuing.
