WINDHOEK– The artworks of multi-talented award-winning visual artist, Ndasuunye Papa Shikongeni, is currently on exhibition at the Franco Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) Gallery.
The solo exhibition works, titled Spirit of Harambe, is worth visiting and is displaying some of the new works that Papa have been doing since last year after a very long break. The Spirit of Harambe’s exhibition portrays unity, love, peace and transformation. Transformation is what Papa is looking at in the New Year, for the new generation. More than 28 artworks including cardboard prints, collage prints, zip fabrics, and one sculpture, in the trademark quality, creativity and attractive colours of Papa’s artworks, are currently luring dozens of art-lovers to the gallery. Papa’s layering speaks to the layers of culture-traditional, tribal, urban as well as contemporary. Entering the gallery, you will be greeted by a sculpture of the cow where Papa used woods and different recycled materials. Some of Papa’s works includes traditional music equipments and other accessories.
The exhibition is closing on February 27 and art lovers still have the opportunity to view the stunning artworks.
