OSHAKATI – The case in which four people are alleged to have impersonated prosecutors at the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court in June 2013 was yesterday postponed to April 16.

The case was postponed to enable 20-year-old Nuule Ndinelago Hilma to obtain legal aid. Her co-accused are Namupala Andrew, 24-year-old Ashipala Sofia and Ngoshi Salome Pawendohamba, 22.

It is alleged the group worked with an inmate to get money from people by pretending to be prosecutors who could assist accused persons to have their dockets vanish to destroy evidence.

It is further alleged the gang approached a certain woman and promised to have the case against her husband disappear if she paid them an amount they were to agree upon.

Out of disbelief, the woman arranged to meet three of the accused at court where they claimed they were prosecutors.
On June 7, 2013, three of the accused went to court as arranged and they were even dressed in black and white attire.

“The ladies were dressed in black and white and pretended to be prosecutors at the court,” related a source.

It is further alleged that one of the accused went around the court assuming that there was a way out, but she received the shock of her life when she discovered it was only a parking area for staff.

Police officers, who saw her take the route to the parking area, followed and arrested her.

One of the accused related to the police what had transpired and they were arrested at the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court.

The case was on the roll for legal aid when the group appeared in court. The accused appeared before magistrate Helena Ekandjo, while Petrine Hango prosecuted.
