WINDHOEK – Murder was the order of the day this past weekend with no less than five fatal stabbings reported to the police countrywide, according to national police spokesman Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi.

Fifty-three-year-old Alfred Abrahams was killed in Otjomuise on Friday night at around 23h15.

According to the weekly crime report, Abrahams and a friend were on their way back home from buying drugs when they were attacked by a group of people.

The friend who was not identified managed to get away, but Abrahams was not so lucky.

His lifeless body was found on the tarred road in the vicinity of Ramatex with his brains outside his skull.

It is suspected he was beaten with a blunt object on the head which caused his head to open.

The friend was allowed to “dry out” before he was questioned by the police and investigations continue.

A supposed lesbian affair turned sour could be the reason for the killing of a local musician on Sunday morning at around 01h30.

It is alleged the victim Yolande Jager, 35, was involved in a romantic affair with her alleged killer who suspected her of cheating.

It is alleged the suspect who can not be identified until she appears in court followed Jager home after they had an argument.
She allegedly caught up with her at Erf 1722 Clemens Kapuuo Street and stabbed her once in the heart with a sharp object.
People staying at the house witnessed the incident and called a taxi to take Jager to the Katutura State Hospital where she was declared dead on arrival.

Police investigations continue.

Cameron Laubser, 25, was stabbed to death by a friend after a quarrel erupted between them during the early hours of Saturday.

It is alleged the two got into an argument and started stabbing each other until they were separated by the brother of one of them.
Laubser was stabbed in Zambezi Street but managed to walk to Pongolo Street where he succumbed to his injuries in a neighbour’s yard.
A case of murder was opened at the Mondesa Police Station after Hesekiel Shanyengange was stabbed to death with a knife on January 31 between 00h00 and 01h00 at Peace Garden shebeen in the DRC location.

It is alleged that an argument broke out between the deceased and the suspect after the deceased won N$25 at a gambling machine and the suspect claimed it was his.

The suspect tried to flee Swakopmund but was arrested by the police between Karibib and Okahandja.
He is expected to appear in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court today.

The police at Tallismanus are searching for a suspect who is known to them in relation to the stabbing of a 55-year-old Namibian female.
