WINDHOEK – The Namibia Premier League (NPL) have indefinitely postponed all round-10 and 11 premiership fixtures initially slated for this weekend, due to Friday’s National Assembly and Presidential Elections.

The League hierarchy said the postponed fixtures will only be reconsidered early next year, however, maintained that round-12 and 13 fixtures will still go ahead as scheduled for December 3-7.

“The postponement of this weekend’s matches was necessitated by the fact that Friday is a public holiday for citizens to go and cast their votes, which is a democratic right for all Namibians to vote this Friday,” reads the statement.

“The League would also like to call upon its clubs, the players, coaches, supporters and administrators to actively participate in the upcoming National Assembly and Presidential Elections. It is every Namibians fundamental right to vote and participate actively in the prosperity of our country,”
