WINDHOEK – With the entire nation already anticipating the festive season, the MTC Nestor ‘Sunshine’ Tobias Boxing & Fitness Academy will add to the atmosphere by hosting the eagerly awaited ‘Champions in Action’ Boxing Bonanza on December 6.
Namibia’s World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Africa bantamweight champion, Immanuel ‘Prince’ Naidjala will be the main attraction on that evening when he defends his title against South African opponent Gideon Buthelezi, at the Windhoek Country Club.
“I know I’m going to fight a former champion and that’s already a motivation to me, so come December 6, I will go all out and make sure I punish that boy (Buthelezi). I’m ready and well prepared for the fight, I have the best team’s best sparring partners and best manager as well, so it’s all about me going out there and getting the job done,” said Naidjala.
Naidjala boasts an astonishing record 19 wins, 1 loss and a draw from 21 fights, while his opponent Buthelezi has an equally impressive record of 13 wins, 4 losses from 17 fights in the paid ranks.
On a night that promises to offer multiple action, local Welterweight boxer Julius ‘Blue Machine’ Indongo will face a stern test when he squares off against the highly experienced Kaizer Mabuza also from South Africa, in what promises to be a crackerjack affair.
Meanwhile, Flyweight pugilist Japhet ‘Thin Man’ Utoni will finally be accorded a perfect opportunity to avenge his earlier defeat to Abmerk Shindjuu when the two boxers rumble it out for over 12-rounds for the WBO Africa Flyweight title.
In another rematch, Samuel ‘The Hammer’ Kapapu will also be out to settle an old score against Martin Haikali when they lock horns for the WBO Africa Lightweight title over 12-rounds.
Also in action will be upcoming boxer Kennedy Kamati who takes on Domicusi Weyulu in a 4-round Lightweight fight, which will be preceded by a Featherweight fight between Onesmus Nekundi and Erick Kalenga over 4-rounds, amongst other heated bouts.
Entrance fee is N$200 per person and N$10 000 per table seating 10 people. Action starts at 18h30.
