EENHANA – NFA Galz & Goals honoured its committed and hardworking volunteers in Regional Galz & Goals Committees with tokens of appreciation for the 2014 season.

Eenhana Galz & Goals were awarded ‘Best Regional Committee’ for their ability to organise a big football league with 49 participating girls teams from the Ohangwena Region in the U13, U15, U17 and U20 leagues.

They were further honoured for their dedication in empowering girls through educational football and healthy lifestyle activities by eagerly hosting activities such as Mommies Day and Carnivals to create awareness about the benefits of girls playing football in their community.

Although Rundu Galz & Goals are running a smaller league; they were honoured for their exemplary administration and for integrating healthy lifestyle activities. Thus they scooped the ‘Best Organised League’ award.

Galz & Goals Regional Coordinator in Keetmanshoop, Theopoltine Golley, was bestowed with the ‘Most Committed Regional Coordinator’ award for her commitment and dedication to the programme.

Golley has been in charge of Keetmanshoop Galz & Goals since the programme was introduced in 2010. She was recognised for having an innovative approach and a strong focus on life skills activities which are seen as a vital part of the Galz & Goals programme.

“We hope the awards will serve as an inspiration to the winners and also to everyone else that are part of NFA Galz & Goals as regional coordinators, committee members and coaches. We appreciate the good work that you do for your communities and in particular the development of the girl-child through educational football and healthy lifestyle activities.

“We appreciate the support from the Directorate of Sports within the Ministry of Youth and Sport [towards] the implementation of the programme at regional and national levels.” said Jacqueline Gertze, the National Coordinator and Education Manager of NFA Galz & Goals.

The awards were made possible with the involvement of UNICEF, FIFA, GIZ, SPAR Namibia, SCORE Namibia and UNAIDS.
