WINDHOEK – Team KIA Namibia Elite rider Martin Freyer conducted a training camp near Windhoek recently, focusing on cross-country skills based on knowledge he acquired when attending a two-week training course at the International World Cycling (UCI) Centre in Aigle/Switzerland in September.
“I believe Namibia has a lot of talent. That’s why I want to teach kids the basic but very
important aspects of riding when young,” said the mountain bike ace from Windhoek. In total, nine kids responded to Freyer’s invitation to up their skills.
Freyer promised to pass on what he learned in Europe upon his return and has since put up an obstacle course where the participants train.
Furthermore, Freyer gave the kids some theoretical tips on cross-country racing, mechanical issues and basics like slalom driving, manuals and bunny-hops.
“This is just the beginning – I’m planning to undertake more such events in the near future.”
