WINDHOEK–   The newly launched Paragon Seafood Production will be creating job opportunities for grass root entrepreneurs for local vendors and will be urging unemployed youth to draw interest in an effort to reduce unemployment in Namibia.

The Paragon Investment launched the ‘Tjao Fish’ seafood products as part of their Paragon Seafood Products on Tuesday.

During the launch, Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Bernhard Esau said: “Starting at the processing plant, additional jobs are needed to process and pack the volumes that will be distributed nationally, drivers for trucks as well as people to maintain refrigerated containers are employed by Paragon Seafood products and vendors will be selected from the unemployed youth, we should not ignore the jobs and opportunity for self employment that are created as a result of this project.”

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, Director of Paragon Investment Holdings, Lazarus Jacobs commented: “Paragon Seafood Products is by Namibians for Namibians. We want to feed the nation with fresh affordable fish products.”

The ‘Tjao Fish’ product will be affordable and easily reached at the door steps of Namibians, “as you know many Namibians have to walk long distances to be able to reach centres where affordable protein is available, this must end”, added Esau.

The regional depots are located in Windhoek and Oshakati where the products will be stored in frozen containers to make more efficient distribution to various outlets nation wide, they will be stored in Paragon Seafood Production deep freezers.

This project will allow sea frozen horse mackerel to be packed on shore, then offloaded at Walvis Bay based sea food processing plant, where it will be carefully and meticulously graded in order to ensure that only the desired size and quality is selected for the consumer, said Benhard Esau, Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources.

The ‘Tjao Fish’ is available in a one kilogram packaging bag, the fish is also glazed to ensure sea freshness is maintained and that the quality is not compromised and shell life is extended. The consumer bags can be opened and closed as the consumer wishes without compromising the quality and freshness of the product.
