WINDHOEK-Young entrepreneur’s finalists in Bank Windhoek Bizzkids Competition will exhibit their products and services at the sixth Bank Windhoek Kidz Fun Fair and Family Expo on Friday and Saturday at Doc Jubber Hockey Fields in Olympia.
The finalists, between 8 and 16 years, will demonstrate their entrepreneurial skills as they promote and persuade potential customers to support their businesses, which include, baking products, a photo studio and cosmetic products. The exhibitors will be selling unique quality crafts, jewellery and gifts. Marlize Horn, Executive Officer: Group Marketing and Corporate Communication Services at Bank Windhoek says the Bank Windhoek BizzKids Competition gives the finalists the chance to get involved in the whole product concept and development from start to finish as they are encouraged to make their own products and the Bank Windhoek Kidz Fun Fair and Family Expo gives them the opportunity to market and sell the products. “We are excited about the innovative ideas of the ten finalists and we encourage members of the public to come and support them as they show off their entrepreneurial skills,” says Horn.
There will be more fun at the Bank Windhoek Sports Zone where children can engage in volleyball, soccer and cricket games, as well as a dirty cycle adventure to be hosted by TRex. Children will be introduced to the art of pottery and have the opportunity to make their own ceramic works at the Kids Arts Zone, coordinated by the Potters Association of Namibia (PAN). At Free Fun Zone children can release their excess energy on a variety of jumping castles and water slides. Children are encouraged to bring an extra pair of clothing. A live show will take place on Friday evening and Saturday.
The winning team of the competition will receive N$5 000 and N$5 000 for their school, while the second and third place winners will receive N$3 000 and N$2 000 respectively. The BizzKids Competition was established five years ago to promote entrepreneurship among the Namibian youths. It also encourages children to take calculated business risks from a young age and think beyond traditional ways of doing business. The Kidz Fun Fair and Family Expo is Namibia’s only trade fair that provides education, fun and entertainment to the entire family.
