WINDHOEK – German senior rugby team coach, Hans-Joachin Wallenwein has promised a thrilling match and a win when they lock horns with Namibia’s rugby XV, the Welwitschias, in an international test match at the Trustco United Rugby Field, today at 19h00.

Speaking at a press conference in Windhoek yesterday, Wallenwein said he expects a tough game against the home side, as the Welwitschias will strongly be gunning for victory in order to boost their morale before starting their European preparatory tour next month.

The German mentor, however, remained positive and insisted his squad has what it takes to deliver the desired results. The German team consists mostly youngsters who ply their trade within various German leagues and a few veterans, who he says will inspire the team to victory.

Besides only having been accorded a few weeks to recondition the players, Wallenwein maintained that they did all they could within that short space of time and his troops will surely give a good account of themselves.

Today’s match will serve as a preparatory match for the Welwitschias’, who are set to make their 5th appearance at the much-anticipated International Rugby Board (IRB) World Cup in England next year, while also offering them some much needed game time.

The home side is equally ready for the Germans and NRU’s CEO Stbrand de Beer said it was very important to win as the team’s performance in tonight’s match and in other upcoming friendly games, will heavily influence how they compete in the world rugby showpiece next year.
