WINDHOEK – Bank Windhoek Holdings invites students with excellent academic records to apply for undergraduate bursaries in the fields of Economic and Risk Management, Applied Mathematics and Statistics, Accounting (Internal Auditing) and Economics and Management at recognised institutions of higher learning.
Students that are currently studying or plan to study can apply for a bursary, which covers registration fees, tuition fees, prescribed literature/textbooks, accommodation and meals. Applicants must be a Namibian citizen, have an excellent academic history, supported by favourable testimonials, may not be the holder of any other bursary or scholarship except for merit bursaries without any work or repayment commitments and must provide proof indicating the student’s pre-approval or registration with the respective institution of higher learning.
“The Bank Windhoek Holdings Bursary Scheme, not only helps talented students who are unable to afford to pay for their tertiary education, but it also assists the Group in addressing the skills shortage in the financial service industry,” said Fillimon Ngairo, Manager: Human Capital Development at Bank Windhoek.
Students will be attached to various Business and Support Units of the Group during recess and holidays, as part of experiential learning. The attachment will also lay a foundation and exposure to the corporate environment.
The Group Bursary Scheme, which has been in existence for 16 years, was established to provide financial support to students who excel academically and to attract highly talented Namibians to be part of the Bank Windhoek Holdings team. So far, 41 students have benefited from the scheme. The closing date for applications is 14 November 2014.
