WINDHOEK – The remains of a newborn baby were found at a plot near the Fish Consumption Promotion Store in Outapi at a date and time unknown.

The remains consist of the lower parts of the body, buttocks wrapped in a diaper as well as scorched legs and pieces of a skull. 

The body was dressed in a light blue and white jersey. 

The remains were transported to the Okahao police mortuary. No arrest was made and police investigations continue. 

In a separate incident, the body of 48-year-old Adam Lazarus Swartbooi was found behind a shebeen at Oshiwana Penduka location in Mariental between 2 and 3 September, at an unknown time by a passerby. 

The body had two stab wounds. No arrests were made and police investigations continue.  The next of kin were informed. 

An 86-year-old woman allegedly hanged herself in her bedroom with a rope at Omumbu village in the Omusati Region. The incident happened at about 13h30 on 5 September and the victim was allegedly mentally ill. No suicide note was left and police investigations continue. The next of kin were informed. 

A twelve-year old boy died on the spot when he was hit by a vehicle on the Oshikango/Ondangwa main road near Okakwa village. It is alleged that Tobias Nghilifavali Tobias was trying to cross the road at about 09h44 on 7 September when he was hit by a Toyota Corolla. His next of kin were informed and police are investigating a case of culpable homicide. 

In another case of stabbing, 22-year-old George Filades was stabbed once in the left chest with sharp object at about 00h00 on 6 September in Soweto location in Nomtsoub, Tsumeb. He was rushed to the Tsumeb State Hospital by a family member, but succumbed to his injuries at about 06h30 on 7 September. The suspect is known to the police and investigations continue. 

The Outapi police are investigating a case of culpable homicide after the driver of a Toyota pick-up succumbed to his injuries following a collision with an Opel Astra. The driver of the Astra escaped unhurt. 

According to the weekly crime report the two vehicles collided at about 16h00 on 5 September at Oshifo settlement. The Toyota pick-up overturned after the driver lost control and both the driver and his passenger sustained serious injuries. They were taken to Outapi Hospital and were later transferred to Oshakati Intermediate Hospital where the driver succumbed to his injuries the next morning. The passenger is still in a critical condition. The deceased was identified as 42-year old Hango Robba Natangwe. The next of kin were informed.
