WINDHOEK– The Team Shako brand has been launched with its first line of t-shirts as well as caps, bags, caps to inspire locals with a liking for indegenous brands.
According to brand owner, Naftali Nghishekwa, recently Nghishekwa, Team Shako is not a profit making brand but a brand that aims to encourage Namibians to support local brands rather than international brands. “Team Shako defines everything. We want people to start wearing local products. Right now Namibian people are into international brands while we got our own local brands to support,” says he. Nghishekwa adds that starting up his own brand was not an easy task but his love for fashion and style made the cut. I love style and I wasted so much money on international brands. Knowing that most supported brands in the country are international brands was a challenge when I wanted to start my own brand but that did not stop me from inventing something I love,” he says.
The Team Shako brand targets people from of 15 to 40 years and has accessories that go with the clothing line. “Our clothing line is young, mature and fresh. We want to be beyond a brand by giving back to the community and I see this brand going far and we will be merging with another local brand and soon open up a boutique as well as show unit,” Nghishekwa shares his outlook. The brand has currently six members maintaining the name. To buy or support any Team Shako products contact Nghishekwa at 0816458471.
