WINDHOEK– The Legal Assistance Centre (LAC) will be hosting an exhibition titled Break the Silence an exhibition of international artworks, raising awareness on HIV and AIDS with the collection facilitated by the organization Artists for Human Rights (AFHR).
Artists have participated from all over the world in this exihibition, proving once again that AIDS is a global issue and affects all on a global scale. Some of the artists featuring are Sipho Mdanda from Durban (SA), Daniel Ohene-Adu from Ghana and more globally Yusuf Arakkel from India, just to mention a few.
The exhibition will run from August 18 until September 28 at the Franco-Namibian Cultural Centre (FNCC) in collaboration with the National Art Gallery of Namibia (NAGN). The LAC is a public interest law centre advocating human rights in Namibia by making the lawaccessible to those with the least access. Its main objective is to protect the human rights of all Namibians. It is the only organisation of its kind in Namibia. It has a head office in Windhoek, Namibia’s capital, along with two regional offices. It is funded by national and international donor organisations as well as individuals.
Artists for Human Rights (AFHR) is a non-profit organisation with the purpose of promoting the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and thus raising human rights awareness around the world by knowing them, demanding them, and defending them.The opening of the exhibition on August 18 will be at half-past-six O’clock (18h30) and entrance to the exhibition every day will be free.
