WINDHOEK-Hit the Beat 2014 “Let’s move it – Performing Arts Project” will hit the local theatre tonight and tomorrow at the Warehouse Theatre.

This year, the Hit the Beat 2014 will include different activities such as choir, drumming, percussion, theatre and dance with Waldorf School learners and special guests from Germany known as Gonzo ’n Friends. Gonzo ʼn Friends band specialises in refining known songs that they turn with a lot of passion and exquisite art in their own versions, including such well-known German songs like Longing and You are my heart, which make their performances spectacular.

Organiser, Katharina Wyss, says Hit the Beat is an extraordinary performing arts project and the development of the performance included three incredible weeks of choir rehearsals for all high school learners and an additional choice of three workshops for each learner in dance, drumming and stick fighting.“Hit the Beat is a powerful presentation. The acting framework will moderate the show in form of improvisational theatre. This year former learners are also participating in the large choir and/or in smaller ensembles or even solo singing parts,” she says. By working artistically on the project, the learners are empowered with creativity, courage, teamwork, musicality and general rhythm.

The team behind the learners are Simone de Picciotto (project leader, choir project, drumming workshop, stick fighting and brooms workshop); Carmen Nothando Voigt (dance and choreography); Luigi Scarano (theatre and improvisation); Barbara Stauffer (choir), Tony Muirhead (drumming); Oliver Weede (drumming) and the teachers of Waldorf School Windhoek. Advance tickets costs N$ 60 and are available at the school office at Waldorf School Windhoek, 061 41 52 59, and at the door N$ 80. The show starts at seven o’clock (19h00).
