WINDHOEK– One of Namibia’s best boy rock bands, Penilane, will be celebrating their ten years of existence at the Warehouse Theatre on July 18.
The four piece band consisting of Roy-Lee Kitt (vox & guitar), Anesh Morar (drums), Mike Ott (bass guitar), Raimond Seefeldt (vox & guitar) has been churning out its own brand of music since 2004 of which they refer to as Progressive Sweaty Nuts Rock. Having spent seven weeks in studio alongside 2011 Grammy winning recording engineer for best Rock/Gospel Album, Alan Sanderson, Penilane released their debut album Wear It Well in 2012. The album turned into a collaborative effort within the Namibian music industry, from equipping the studio to meeting the very high standards set by Alan Sanderson himself, to the various tracks recorded with featured artists such as EES and the Mighty Vocals.
In the same year, 2012, Penilane shared the stage with the legendary UB40 in Windhoek, and toured Mozambique for a second time, for the annual STRAB Festival in May. The band’s EP, Ripple Effect, was mixed by Danny Conway at Suite Studios in Dublin, under the supervision of Marc Carolan, FOH Engineer for Muse, The Cure and Snow Patrol. Ripple Effect was released on January 1, 2010.
