WINDHOEK-The Namibian Oviritje artist, Kaurarere Kamahene, better known as Otjinate, was among the Namibian artists thrilling the guests at the Annual Namibian Get Together (ANGT) festival, hosted by Namibian Community in America (NCA) in the United Sates of America (USA)
Otjinate headlined the event when he performed songs from his last album, Haters make me Famous. In his colourful blue suit, Otjinate managed to bring Namibian Oviritje music lovers up on their feet, especially when he performed the song Zula, leaving them craving for more.
Otjinate says they made a huge impression at their first show hosted in Seattle on the Friday with a group of Namibians in New York City (NYC). “All our efforts turned all hands on the deck to make the show and time in NYC, a booming success,” he says.
He adds on Saturday, the festival was led by Mao Ndjavera of NX Phase Media and they also spent the day in Times Square, shooting scenes from their upcoming videos, touring high and recording at Times Square’s Quad Studios, Premier Studios and networking with leading industry professionals in NYC. “We also performed among jubilant crowd in NYC. It was arousing performances where we left our marks,” says Otjinate.
He adds that the group shot more videos at a park in Yonkers, NYC alongside the scenic Hudson River. “In Yonkers, the video effort was led by Mauritz Goaiseb of Van Die Mooi Entertainment. London Boy, a NYC based Video Director also helped in shooting the videos. London Boy credits as video director include videos for big NYC artists of Jadakiss and Avery Storm.“The community banded together to work alongside the artist to provide a once in lifetime experience,” Otjinate concludes.
