WINDHOEK—Clear Vision Film (CVF) is inviting upcoming artists country-wide to apply for sponsorship for the free production of a music video.
Artists must e-mail their song and video script or storyline for their videos to itatuindongo@yahoo.com or call 0811277628 before the end of this month. The owner of CVF, Indongo Itatu, says the aim is to help upcoming artists who are struggling to advance in their careers. “I have seen lots of talented artists performing all over Namibia but they find it difficult to take their music career further due to financial problems, and lack of promotion. I always feel pity for them and thus forced me to come up with this massive project,” says Itatu.
He adds that sponsoring such artists with a free music video is the quickest way to promote them, compared to other ways of promotions because the whole Namibia will be watching it, even if an artist is based in a certain town. “This way, the talented artist will be known and can easily further his/her music career through other ways of promoting until they become established artists, “ he says.
CVF was established last year by Itatu focusing mainly on graphic design, screen printing, photography and film production. It has printed T-shirts for some Namibian artists. Apart from printing T-shirts, it has also designed CD covers for artists such as Makhazola, A’kee, Thommy and shot films, The Road to Hell by Koo Kaa and Uuyuni Ukwanampinyuka by Kakwaya respectively.Itatu says the songs submitted for video production should be of higher quality, racism free and with no abusive language. The lucky artist would be responsible for all the cost such as transport from Oshakati to their favorite place or scenes, during the video filming and production.”Only one artist will be sponsored but if there’s a runner up whom I am satisfied with, his or her work, then I can take two artists. We will strictly look at the song and the script. So we advise artists to be creative. The lucky winner will be announced on Facebook Page,” he says.
