WINDHOEK – South African football premiership outfit Amazulu FC recently released Namibian midfielder-cum-striker Pinehas Jakob along with two other teammates, Msekeli Mvalo and Lunga Zondi, to make way for new signings the club is looking to bring on board.
KickOff.com yesterday reported that Jakob is not part of the club’s plans for the upcoming 2014/15 season.
Brave Warriors team manager, Tim Isaacs, confirmed to New Era Sports that Jakob was released by Amazulu a few weeks ago but couldn’t go into details as to what led to the player’s plunge.
Brave Warriors striker and Jakob’s Amazulu teammate, Sadney Urikhob, also confirmed Jakob’s release but maintained he couldn’t say much about the release as he had not spoken to Jakob for some time.
Urikhob however admitted that it’s not always as easy as it seems when players cross Namibian borders, saying some bow out due to the level of competition while others just simply struggle to meet the required fitness levels in order to make it into the starting line-up.
The speedy striker added that the South African league is a wholly different kettle of fish when compared to the Namibian league and it requires discipline and hard work to survive in foreign leagues.
“There it’s more about tactics, discipline and plenty of hard work at each and every training session. In Namibia, many players still live by the method of kick-and-run while their fitness levels are not really much of a concern to coaches here back at home. So, it becomes a different story on its own for a player who is not used to all these things – but through hard work and discipline it’s all possible.”
