WINDHOEK-The soulful Jazz singer Shishani, and soothing melodies writer Tonetic, are currently touring Germany, presenting their newly released music video, Undefended.

Shishani says their tour, which started last month, came as a promotion of their catchy, upbeat and acoustic-track music video Undefended, for it to be known worldwide. The past weeks, Shishani and Tonetic has teamed up with one of the German film directors, Wolf Gaudlitz and undertook a trip around Germany premiering his latest movie Sahara Salaam. “We travelled throughout with Wolf, on his adorable truck known as Cinema Mobile where we get a chance to screen our Undefended video in every cinema we crossed around the city, and we also get a chance to perform the song to the audiences,” she says.

She adds that Wolf has been amazing in sharing the German history in Namibia to largely unknowing audiences, giving people insight about the past and present through interviewing Tonetic about his life and experiences as a Namibian with German roots.  “Together we visited beautiful cities, churches, houses and different houses.  We shared meals, our music, talks, our feelings together and we described this as a magical trip of light,” she says.

The Undefended video, has been released earlier this year with the aim to call for freedom and equality for all people despite their perceived differences.

The music video stands out in its call for equal rights and acceptance of everyone pushed to the margins. The video has been directed by Jana Eleanor Brückner, and is shot and edited by Endemic Productions. The song has been recorded at NBC Studio 6.  “My music is becoming more popular in Namibia. I’ve been working hard and trying to make my mark, so, I feel stronger. It is an honour to be viewed as a role model. So, if I can contribute to the movement through my music, I’m happy to, and I will,” she concludes.
