ONCE again the flags were flying, the chrome was gleaming, new models were launched and a bevy of motor  dealers pulled out all the stops to showcase their latest models, to a more than eager crowd of show goers this year, who turned up to the four-day Bank Windhoek Motor Show which ended on a high note on Saturday.

One of the most thrilling experiences must have been the Ferrari stand this year, which in addition to the Ferrari Power Parade of 12 heart-stopping models on the Friday morning, the one of a kind 2012 F1 Grand Prix racing car was displayed for the first time.

Ferrari’s visit to Namibia was made possible by Vivo Energy’s Shell V-Power products. Since Shell has close ties with Formula 1 racing, Vivo Energy Namibia was responsible for bringing up six demonstration Ferrari’s from SA, which in addition to a competition they ran over the four days, saw lucky visitors to the Motor Expo experiencing a dream drive in a Ferrari.

Another highlight was the Harley Davidson stand, which attracted many a bike enthusiasts, who turned out to see some of their exotic models exhibited, with prices in excess of N$250 000. The excitement started off with a mass ride through town on Saturday, to the delight of young and old,  since who doesn’t like the thunderous sound of raw ‘horse power’ moving down the street.

The Motor Show, now in its eighth year, is undoubtedly one of the biggest vehicle exhibitions in the country and has become a highlight on the calendar of the local motor industry, who spare little expense to display their brands.

The dealers that showcased their vehicles were; Harley Davidson, Indongo Toyota, Spes Bona Motor Company, Auas Delta, Associated Motor Holdings Namibia, M&Z Motors, M&Z Commercial, Pupkewitz Motors, African Commercial Vehicles, Autohaus Windhoek, Novel Motor Company, Zimmermann Garage and CAM Namibia/Geely.

The 2014 Bank Windhoek & Republikein Motor Show which ran from June 4-7 offered three special financing options for clients to choose from. According to the sales teams based at their stands the response towards the motor show very positive, with public interest better than ever, boosting new vehicle sales well into the year.
