The Namibians, under the leadership of captain of Heiko Fleidl, put up a great fight against the Maldives but eventually lost 3:1 that saw veteran Fabian Tait being the only member of the Namibian delegation to win a match, defeating his opposition 11:4, 11:7, 9:11 and 11:8.
“He had his opponent totally confused and idealess,” the Namibian Table Tennis Association (NTTA) remarked on their Facebook page. In yesterday’s action, the Namibian team played against Libya to be followed by further matches against Liberia, Malta and Palestine. A total of 121 men and 105 women’s teams are competing at the world championships with close to 1000 athletes in action.
