ONDANGWA– Aune Johannes, from the Nangolo Senior Secondary School has been crowned  Miss High School North 2014, while Magdalena Haipumbu from the Nehale Senior Secondary School became First Princess, and Mirjiam Nangolo from Erundu Senior Secondary School Second Princess.
The event on Saturday at the Ekamuti Town Lounge here was aimed at raising funds, give girls in High School a chance to take part in a modelling events, and for the community to see the young ones showing off their beauty.
Aune says winning this competition was a very big opportunity for her to shine and teach fellow youths what she knows. “I felt honoured and excited at the same time, receiving this recognition. One of the simplest and yet the hardest thing to do on this planet is to do the right thing. My encouragement to my fellow youths is to tell them not to give up in life, and to stay away from alcohol and drug abuse.”
Zee Martin, one of the organisers, says with the event, now in its the second season, they wanted these children to know what they really mean to the nation, as they are the future. Funds raised will be used to buy stationary and school accessories for the less fortunate. The Dogg, Omfally, Young Kasi, Lbht, Scooby Dee, Scary Ya bona, Jeeper Creepers, Terror Squad, Tripple 7 and Nestor Fly Back all put up massive performances.
