WINDHOEK — The Okahandja shopping mall, which is being built near the Okahandja highway, is expected to open its doors towards the end of this month.

According to Lelanie Basson, communications partner for the mall, the complex will have 108 retail outlets and is expected to create direct and indirect employment for over 800 people.

“The new development will most certainly change the retail landscape in the garden town forever,” she said, adding that the development is one of the largest private investments in Okahandja.

Basson said the opening of outlets has been divided into three phases, with eleven stores scheduled to open at the end of April in the first phase. She said thereafter shops would open on a weekly basis until the end of May 2014, while the last phase is expected to be completed by the end of September. The developers of the new mall are Namib Housing, a subsidiary of Germou Holdings.
