WINDHEOK – The TransNamib Bowling Club (TBC) dominated much of the second match day of this year’s National Bowls League, which got underway at various venues around the country last weekend.

The players from the capital took over the lead in two of the four categories, thanks to their outstanding performances.  In the men’s division, the TBC came up against the Windhoek Bowling Club (WBC) in their first encounter on Saturday and brushed aside WBC by 20:9.

Also in action, Eros Bowling Club (EBC), who had managed to stay undefeated during the first match day last weekend, once again showed great bowling in their first match as they celebrated a clear 23:16 victory over the Windhoek Country Club (WCC).

Sunday then saw the two top teams coming up against each other. As the game wore on, the TBC players were the ones who had a better day as they grabbed point after point to eventually beat WBC in dominating fashion (22:14).

Thanks to their two wins the TransNamib men took over at the top of the table. Namib Park also bested Rossmund Bowling Club on Saturday and Sunday to take 2nd place in the league standings.

Not to be outdone by their male club counterpart, the TBC women’s team also managed to get some good results to go top of the table. In their first match on Saturday they thrashed the Windhoek Bowling Club by 28:10. Then, on Sunday, they faced the EBC women, who themselves recorded a 13:11 win over the Windhoek Country Club the previous day.

In an epic encounter, none of the two teams managed to find a winning formula with the match ending in a fair 19:19 draw allowing the TBC to go first on the log due to the superior shooting difference. The Namib Park Ladies also bested their Rossmund counterparts on Saturday and managed a draw on Sunday against the same side.

Meanwhile, the EBC players were also unable to secure a win over the TransNamib Club in the mixed division. Both won their games on Saturday with their highly anticipated tie going down on Sunday. Using their weekend’s momentum, the TransNamib players secured another victory, beating EBC 20:17.

The EBC second division players did however manage to gain a victory over the TBC newcomers. The game, which was the only second division match of the weekend, ended with 13:12 in favour of the Eros Club. The third match day will get underway this coming weekend.
