WINDHOEK – With the entire nation already in a celebratory mood ahead of Namibia’s 24th independence celebrations on March 21, the MTC Nestor ‘Sunshine’ Tobias Boxing & Fitness Academy will be adding to the atmosphere by hosting the annual Independence Boxing Bonanza on April 5.
In a night that promises to offer multiple action, crowd favourite Immanuel ‘Prince’ Naidjala will be topping the bill when he challenges Francis Miyeyusho of Tanzania for the vacant World Boxing Organization (WBO) Africa bantamweight title in Windhoek at a yet-to-be announced venue, in what promises to be a crackerjack affair. Naidjala relinquished his WBO Africa Bantamweight title and International Boxing Federation (IBF) International Bantamweight crown when he lost to Japanese boxer Tomoki Kameda during their WBO Bantamweight world title bout late last year. But the Namibia boxing prospect says the defeat against Kameda only served to make him stronger and wiser, and has promised to stop at nothing in his quest to reclaim his WBO title when he confronts the Tanzanian. Naidjala boasts an astonishing record 17 wins, 1 loss and a draw from 19 fight, while his opponent Miyeyusho has a somewhat patchy record of 10 defeats, 2 draws, while he has managed to win 37 bouts from a total 49 fights in the paid ranks. Also in action will be upcoming boxer Nathanael Kamati who takes on Kebonyethebe Ramaboana from Botswana in a 6-round Super Bantamweight fight, which will also double up as the main supporting bout of the evening. Kamati has a record of 4-wins from 4 fights, while Ramaboana only has 1 win and a defeat from 2 fights.
