WINDHOEK – The second tournament of the Pro-Tennis Academy (PTA) tennis series got underway last weekend at the Windhoek High School (WHS) tennis courts in the capital, with more than 35 participants keeping spectators on the edges of their seats.

Codie van Schalkwyk again proved unstoppable in the advanced category, when the young defending champion easily cruised through during the course of the highly competitive tournament. After his third place in the opening tournament some three weeks ago, Oliver Diggle secured the second place finish last weekend, while Nguvi Hinda managed a third place finish. Codie’s brother Connor, one of the favourites of this division, had to settle for a consolation fourth place. In the intermediate division, Henry de Klerk secured his first win of the season ahead of Logino Goraseb and Deonetto Dirkse. Meanwhile Randel Kavandje won the beginner’s category for the second time in a row, with Delicia Dirkse and Petro De Sandro trailing in second and third place. In the midi category, there was another two-way battle between Adam Diggle and Beyonce Boois. The two players finished the first event on equal points, sharing the first place.

This time around though, Boois got the better of Diggle to seal the win, leaving her rival to pick up the pieces in second place.

Daniel Sindila took third place. Wimpy Maerua continued their support to the tennis series, once again coming on board as main event sponsors.
