WINDHOEK The British High Commission yesterday donated an amount of N$117 882 to Avalon Event, a local entertainment company that uses theatre skills to raise awareness about the dangers of HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, alcoholism and drug abuse among the San community in the Omaheke Region. According to a statement of the company, the project “Kidz 4 U” is an educational one aimed at creating jobs and addressing social issues with a view to improving life for the Namibian minority San community. The participants will receive the necessary tools to take these issues forward with the wider community. “This is one step which is taken to empower this culture-rich but marginalised group. Avalon Event, on behalf of the San community, would like to thank the British High Commission for enabling us to take this step and join us on this pioneering journey,” the statement read.
