By Kuvee Kangueehi WINDHOEK The MTC Namibia Football Association (NFA) Cup program, which was called off on Sunday after the teams failed to travel to Keetmanshoop, has now been rescheduled for next week Wednesday at the Independence Stadium. The four Windhoek-based teams could not make it to Keetmanshoop because of the heavy flooding which took place in Mariental on Saturday. African Stars FC which will take on Ramblers FC and United Africa Tigers FC will meet Cymot SKW to determine the quarterfinalists of the competition. The Chairman of the Cup Competitions Committee Eric Hansen told New Era yesterday that he was busy finalising details of the matches which have been rescheduled. He however noted that some of the organising committee members are still stranded at Keetmanshoop and he was busy making arrangements for them to come back. “Only Blue Waters made their way back to Walvis Bay and I understand that Touch & Go are still stranded in the south.” Meanwhile, Nampa reports that MTC Sponsorship Manager Amos Shiyuka told Nampa on enquiry Sunday that nature dictates matters, and there was nothing that anyone could do. MTC will cover the costs of the four teams stranded because they have to stay a few more days in Keetmanshoop, he said. He added that two more games scheduled for Sunday in Keetmanshoop would be played midweek in Windhoek. Windhoek Sports Club (SKW), United Africa Tigers, Ramblers and African Stars could not pass through Keetmanshoop on Saturday. Meanwhile, Oshakati City beat Touch & Go 5-4, while Blue Waters beat Black Africa 5-4 on penalties. In Otjiwarongo, Eleven Arrows beat Arsenal 5-0 and Orlando Pirates defeated Deportivo 4-1. Civics beat Golden Bees 4-0 on Sunday. In other news Nampa reports that Black Africa coach Bobby Samaria has resigned as head coach of the black and red outfit. Speaking to Nampa on inquiry Monday, Samaria said it was a career decision and he would now concentrate on coaching the national Under 20 soccer team. He however said that he was approached by rival United Africa Tigers but would weigh up the options. Asked if his decision was influenced by him not having a sound relationship with the new team technical director, Ronny Kanalelo, as speculated, he said: “I had no problem with Kanalelo and never had any fallout with him.” Samaria, a former Black Africa player, did not want to comment on the poor performance of Black Africa of late, saying that he was not in a position to do so.
