Time for a little nostalgia with Sledge

Home Archived Time for a little nostalgia with Sledge

WINDHOEK–  It’s a night of love songs tonight as the legendary Namibian musician, Sledge Kanime returns to the Khomasdal Community Hall tonight.

If you want to have a pre-feel and taste for this, just flash your mind back to his 40th anniversary show at the same venue last year, as well as to another show last year at the Garlic and Flower Restaurant as well as well as another show at the same venue back in 2012 and you will know what the artist is made off. All these shows have lived up to their promises not merely as entertainment for the not so over the top generation from Windhoek and beyond, but proved a reunion of sorts for friends and acquaintances who have not seen one another for a long time. Not to mention them being a nostalgic journey back into times not-so immemorial and the music of those times, namely the 1960s, 1970, 1980s and if you like, the 1990s.

Likewise Sledge show tonight promises such a nostalgic journey down memory lane and a social event of its kind where old friends and acquaintances can come, mingle, be jolly and jolt that rusted limb. On the menu are renditions of songs of artists like Al Green ,The Miracles , Sam and Dave, Wilson Picket, and rockers like Grand Funk Railroad ,Bad Company and Free. And as if not enough the show will feature memories of such Namibia musical greats like Baby Tjirimuje, Little Godza, Elvis Afrikaaner, and least but not the least, Johnny Adams, who departed recently.

Doors open at 20h with some lay back music and dance and the show starts at 21h to 23h followed by dancing while Sledge is taking a break for at least 45 minutes and resume with the performance till late. Tickets will be sold at the door for only 50 bucks .For further information  please call 0812000400.
