WINDHOEK Eighteen-month-old Simonie Lawrence is in need of financial assistance to undergo liver transplant surgery in South Africa in two months’ time. Simonie has been in hospital since she was born. The transplant will cost the family N$300 000, of which 80 percent will be covered by the medical aid. Her grandfather, Whani Jansen, a popular singer and musician said yesterday the child needs the transplant to save her precious life. Apart from covering part of the medical costs, the family will also need to pay part of the transport costs to South Africa. The family is thus looking for funds from good Samaritans to enable them to send Simonie for the transplant. The family, in its efforts to raise funds for her, has organized a dance and a fun-filled evening during which Whani and Namibia’s comedians Lazarus Jacobs and Neville Basson will perform. The evening is scheduled for tomorrow, September 15 at the Windhoek Teachers Hall in Windhoek at a cost of N$50 per person. The proceeds of this evening will go towards the medical costs for Simonie.
