ETSIP to Be Appraised by Stakeholders

Home Archived ETSIP to Be Appraised by Stakeholders

By Frederick Philander WINDHOEK A joint appraisal by the Ministry of Education’s Education and Training Sector Improvement Programme (ETSIP) is planned for tomorrow between its partners and other stakeholders in the country’s education system. The joint appraisal comes in the wake of a pre-appraisal and a round-table meeting earlier this year at which the Ministry of Education raised more than N$350 million to initiate ETSIP. The two-day event will be staged at the Nampower convention centre and will be officially opened by the Minister of Education, Nangolo Mbumba. According to a press release from the Ministry of Education, the purpose is to evaluate ETSIP in terms of relevance, effectiveness, feasibility and efficiency; to agree on key actions for the first implementation phase, to agree on the way forward to facilitate the full ETSIP implementation, and to agree on a memorandum of understanding between the parties concerned. The meeting agenda, inter alia, caters for: an overview and progress report of ETSIP, costing and financing of the programme, discussions on early childhood development and primary education, vocational education and training, adult and lifelong learning, ICT in education and capacity development.
