By Frederick Philander WINDHOEK A memorial service for the late South African High Commissioner to Namibia will be held this Wednesday at the Polytechnic of Namibia, it was officially announced in a press release. High Commissioner Timothy Maseko died late December from cancer in a Johannesburg clinic. Maseko’s last known public appearance in Namibia was in early December last year at Keetmanshoop during an official visit of the Prime Minister of the North-west Province. According to the acting High Commissioner Pieter Coetzee, the memorial service will commence at 17h30 on Wednesday in Auditorium 1, adjacent to the Polytechnic Library at the corner of Brahams and Haydn streets. In life, Maseko was a strong supporter and activist in the service of the African National Congress. He will be buried in South Africa on Saturday.
