Home Archived School Funds Missing

By William J. Mbangula Oshakati The principal of Okatana Primary School, Floribertus Niilenge Ashiyana and his deputy Filomena Andjamba, are under investigation following reports of alleged missing school development funds. Reliable sources told New Era that a delegation led by the Deputy Director of Education, Immanuel Aipanda, which consists amongst others of the inspector of education in Oshakati, Eddie Bezuidenhout, and the education planner, Paulinus Enkono, visited the school recently to establish the whereabouts of N$30 000 that is allegedly missing. Approached for comment, Ashiyana denied that there is such money missing but confirmed that an investigation is ongoing at his school. Asked about the names of the people who are doing the investigation, he declined to mention them, saying he was not in a position to reveal their names because he was not the spokesperson of the Ministry of Education. Ashiyana requested New Era not to publish the story until such time that the investigation is complete and the outcome made known. Commenting on the issue, the deputy director of education in Oshana Aipanda said the amount quoted was not correct but added that it was true that an investigation about alleged missing money was being carried out at Okatana Junior Primary School. Said Aipanda: “I can confirm that there is money not accounted for at the said school, but the amount involved can be more or even less than what you have quoted.”
