WINDHOEK – Nudo last weekend welcomed 67 defectors from the ruling Swapo Party, DTA and Swanu at a ceremony held at Okondjatu in the Otjozondjupa Region.
The party’s deputy Secretary General who is also the councillor of the Okakarara constituency, Vetaruhe Kandorozu, said 43 of the new members are from the DTA, 23 from the ruling party and one from Swanu. He said he was surprised by the response of the public, although the event was not vigorously publicized. Kandorozu said Nudo would work hard to ensure that the party is seen as a viable alternative to the incumbent government.
“I would further like to urge Namibians to register to vote,” he said in reference to the presidential and parliamentary elections slated for November.” Nudo has over the years managed to make the Okakarara constituency its stronghold. During the 2010 regional council elections in the Okakarara constituency, the pary managed to get 3107 of the 5420 votes, defeating the Swapo Party, Swanu, DTA and the RDP in the process.
