A dose of art at biltong fest

WINDHOEK– The wind was terrible, it was this “mind the hair and leave the skirt” type of weather at the SKW fields last Friday that blew me right to a trunk of the tree against which a number of art pieces were exhibited during the Biltong Festival.

Interesting pieces these were, but most interesting was the picture of two red-wine drinking blokes, who appeared to have plotted a murder or perhaps a coup d’etat. But on the other hand, it could have been exactly what I saw in the picture, a weary traveller from the Renaissance era who emptied his heart to a barman who seemed to be eager to lock up his wooden door and bolt his windows. But by virtue of him being a smuggler of alcohol, he clearly had no say in what his bedtime should have been, and I am certain the artist responsible for this misery, a HS Klein, was less bothered than I was.

According to art dealer, Tomasz Fidytek, he picked the art piece up somewhere in South Africa, and has no idea who HS Klein is or was. Shrugging that could not put his finger on what made him buy the piece, just knowing he had to, “there is something about it that makes you want it”.
