A night of cultural fusion, celebration

The Zambezi Night music event is just around the corner, promising unforgettable entertainment and cultural celebration.

This year’s event, scheduled for 26 October at The Loft in Windhoek, is set to be even more special, as it coincides with the album launch of renowned artist Alexander Sikalumbulu, known as DJ Siya.

Zambezi Night, which was first conceived 12 years ago by DJ Siya, has become an annual tradition that showcases the vibrant fusion of traditional and modern music.

This year’s event promises to be no different, with a lineup of talented artists and a festive atmosphere that will keep attendees on their feet all night long.

“We’re thrilled to be hosting Zambezi Night once again. This event is a celebration of our rich cultural heritage, and we’re excited to share it with the community. We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the music, the dancing and the camaraderie,” he said.

He added that attendees can expect to hear a diverse range of musical styles – from traditional African rhythms to contemporary electronic beats.

The lineup includes a mix of local and international artists, such as Dalom Kids and Bosslady from South Africa, DJ Vuyo, King Tee Dee, Mr Makoya, Dj Kiki, Shanky Briz, Kwaito Lager, Mdu007 the Fire Drummer, Paul Da Prince, DJ Siya and Tumi Mohamed.

To ensure a memorable night, he urged attendees to bring an extra ‘chitenge’ for dancing.

“We’re going to be doing a lot of kupwacha luli (dancing with our waists), so be prepared to dance the night away,” he revealed.

DJ Siya has recently been nominated for the African Entertainment Awards USA (AEAUSA).

The awards play a vital role in promoting the effective harnessing of Africa’s diverse and immense potential in its arts, music and culture.

It endeavours to support African artists in realising their fullest potential globally.

“To be nominated for the AEAUSA is a good feeling. The nomination itself is a motivation on its own. Please vote for me. It’s online, so there is a link that has to be followed, so please vote me under the category of best DJ. Let’s bring it home,” he said.

He added that the inclusion in the awards ceremony means a lot to him, and this is the first international nomination in his career, to which he thanked God.
