The Abraham Iyambo Primary School in Windhoek received sound speakers and carpets valued at N$20 000 from Grandview Klein Diamond Namibia last week.

School principal Flora Petrus expressed gratitude, saying the gesture will significantly impact the lives of learners and improve the school’s learning environment.

“We are honoured to be blessed with a sound system that we can use for ‘Jolly Phonics’. It’s a programme that helps learners to read. We are grateful for the mats, as learners sit flat to concentrate. This will help them, as the floors are usually cold,” the principal said.

The five speakers and five carpets were donated to the school after a selection with Moses //Garoeb constituency councillor Stephanus Ndengu.

“Education is the foundation of progress. Every investment in our schools is an investment in the future of our children, our community and our nation. This generous contribution by Grandview Klein Diamond Namibia is a gesture to a powerful commitment to the empowerment of our young learners. It demonstrates the spirit of corporate social responsibility, showing that when we come together as government, the private sector and the community, we can create meaningful change,” he said.

Handing over the donations, Grandview Klein Diamond Namibia human resources manager Esther Hakwenye noted that their corporate social responsibility is expressed through donations, sponsorships and scholarships.

“In this particular donation, we wanted to appreciate the children of Namibia, and ensure they receive items that will make their learning process easier,” she said.

Grandview Klein Diamonds is an American-based diamond-cutting and polishing company, which operates in Namibia, South Africa and Botswana.

The company is committed to social investments and corporate responsibility towards empowering communities, and contributing to socio-economic development.
