WINDHOEK – Matheus Mbindama, who faces a charge of theft after being found with some carcasses in his possession, was unhappy his case was deferred to November in the Windhoek Magistrate’s Court.

Mbindama’s frustration resulted in him having a debate with Magistrate Tuvoye Nuule.

Not much information is available on the case. The accused is in custody, he was brought before court and prosecutor George Mhoney informed the court the matter was up for further investigations, but the docket was not before court. “Therefore the State cannot inform the court about the progress of the investigations,” Mhoney explained.

The accused replied he wants to ask the court about the case.

“I am denied bail about something I don’t know,” he added. Mbindama added that he has to “confess to be granted bail or remain in custody”.

The magistrate replied that Mbindama was in court because the State feels he has a case to answer. She added that it was the accused’s third case of stock theft.

Magistrate Nuule further said that “now is not the platform” for Mbindama to go into the merits of his case. She advised him that he could bring a formal bail application.

The matter was then remanded to November 20.
