WINDHOEK – With two more match-days to go, the four playing divisions of the Namibian National Bowls League are intensifying following some thrilling action in last weekend’s matches.

The women’s team of TransNamib Bowling Club (TNBC) continued to underline their championship ambitions and there seems to be no stopping them. Their male club mates, however, had a woeful weekend as they lost both their matches. With the TBNC’s women now having an overwhelming 15 points lead at the top of the log, it is hard to imagine the other close competitors closing in on them. The team was on a high again last weekend, opening the match-day with a solid 20:9 win against Rossmund Bowling Club (RBC).

The next day they were made to work a lot harder against Namib Park Bowling Club (NPBC), but eventually kept their cool to celebrate a 16:15 win, ending their weekend in high spirits. There is however still a fierce race building up behind the log-leaders with all other clubs still in the running for a second place finish. Meanwhile, the TNBC men failed to increase their lead on the top as they suffered a 22:17 loss to the Rossmund Club in their opening game and drew 17:17 in their second game against Namib Park on Sunday. With their rivals, especially Eros Bowling Club (EBC) and Namib Park Bowling Club gaining valuable points, the men’s division will most probably only be decided on the last day come July.

In the mixed division there is currently a two-horse race between TransNamib and Rossmund, both with 14 points, while the Eros players are also in contention having 12 points to their name. TBNC and RBC won one game apiece last weekend, while EBC crashed to a 19:13 defeat in their only game of the day against Tsumeb Bowling Club (TBC).
