Action Time main winner at MTC Winter Cup

A large crowd turned up at the Rehoboth Horse Racing Track for the highly anticipated MTC Winter Cup, which concluded successfully over the weekend with thrilling races across multiple divisions.

Action Time from Professor Supporters Club emerged victorious in the fiercely contested Import Open 220 metres (m) race, outpacing Song of Angles from Ephat Racing, who settled for second.  

Equeery from Otjinene Supporters Club secured third place.

In the Nambred Open 2200m race, Bin Laden, also from Professor Supporters Club, galloped to a strong finish, followed by Lady Diamond of Aminius Racing in second and Boma of Harambe Supporters Club in third.

The Import D-Division 1800m race saw Peeyay from Professor Supporters Club take the win, trailed by Wondering Star of Khomas Turf Club and Time Master from Angermund Racing in second and third, respectively.

In the Nambred D-Division 1800m, Destiny from Khomas Turf Club claimed top honours. 

Life is Good from Talismanus came second, while Boma Junior from Harambe Supporters Club earned third place.

Professor Supporters Clubs, Sakkie Burger expressed pride in his horses’ performances, revealing that preparation began as early as March to ensure strong finishes at the event.

Chantal Mouton from the Namibia Horse Racing Federation said they are proud to report that the MTC Winter Cup was a resounding success, “attracting over 65 competing horses and drawing a crowd of more than 700 enthusiastic spectators. The strong turnout is a clear sign that horse racing in Namibia continues to grow in popularity and support.

“Like any major sporting event, we faced a few minor challenges, particularly with the starting stalls toward the end of the day, but our team managed the situation as effectively as possible to keep the event running smoothly.

“From start to finish, the races delivered thrilling action and fierce competition. We extend our sincere gratitude to all horse owners, jockeys, sports clubs and loyal supporters, whose dedication and passion made the day truly unforgettable for Namibian horse racing,” she remarked.
