Tomi Adams retained the chairperson position of Black Africa (BA) Sports Club after its elective congress at Khorixas over the weekend.
He will be deputised by former BA and Brave Warriors’ midfield maestro Sylvester ‘Lolo’ Goraseb.
Before the congress, Goraseb was the supporters’ coordinator of the club as the previous leadership’s tenure expired on 2 November. The term of office for the new leadership is four years, as per the team’s constitution. In his acceptance speech, Adams said he is humbled, and welcomed the position with all the humility and respect it deserves.
“For the past four years, we could not manage the team as it should be because of very much known reasons,” he stated.
He said the executive committee (Exco) will strive to balance matters by engaging the supporters robustly.
“It goes without saying that we will tackle challenges in unison. I, for one, will not rest until this team is returned to its former glory,” he added. Asked about the portfolios or positions of the new Exco members, the chairperson said the congress tasked them to choose the best person for a specific position amongst themselves.
“We will convene soonest during the course of the week and elect positions, based on our capacity,” Adams said.
He continued that the football team has been training non-stop since mid-July in Windhoek, and has now been invited to Outjo to play in a pre-season tournament this coming weekend.
“We will honour that invitation. It is the best chance to shape our team for the yet-to-be-announced, new first division season. Our target in the league remains the same, which is to conquer the division,” he stated.
Adams further called on the team’s supporters to be patient with the leadership, and to rally behind the team in its strive to attain glories and return to the premier league next season.
“Togetherness must be our collective motive; let bygones be bygones. We all need each other,” he said.
The other Exco members are Dralie Titus, Thomas Petrus, Erika Richter, Frans Adams, Sophia van Rooi and Willie Swartz.
