ADM gears up for elective congress

ADM gears up for elective congress

RUNDU – The Action Democratic Movement interim president Vinsent Kanyetu says his party is gearing up for its first elective conference, where party structures that are occupied on an interim basis will be filled.

“We are going to do it before the due date. Now that our party is registered, people are coming on board. We are registering members and are just finalising structures before we elect people to fill these structures and then head to the electoral college,’’ he said. Kanyetu told New Era that although the party has no source of income, its members are contributing through membership fees to ensure the conference takes place.

The new kid on the political block was launched in July by Kanyetu, who previously served as secretary general (SG) of the All People’s Party (APP).

Before joining APP, Kanyetu was the secretary general for the Democratic Turnhalle Alliance (DTA), which later rebranded to the Popular Democratic Movement (PDM). This time, Kanyetu is gunning for the highest office in the land, the presidency.

“ADM is Namibia’s only hope of attaining prosperity for all, for it to be realised Namibians must go to the polls come November and vote for a revolutionary and democratic party that was formed to bring broad-based development and economic emancipation for the people,’’ he said.

The politician explained that the essence of ADM ideological thrust is the establishment of a sustained society firmly based on the nation’s historical, cultural, and social experience.  “In addition, we aim to create conditions for economic independence, prosperity and equitable distribution of the wealth of the nation,’’ he added.  Kanyetu is confident he has the numbers to back him up for the upcoming Presidential and National Assembly Elections slated for November this year, saying individuals are flocking to ADM as it is “going to become the ruling party in Namibia, because it’s the only hope Namibians have, going forward”.
