WINDHOEK – Eleven sports administrators from around the country have successfully completed an advanced sports management course, under the stewardship of the Namibian Olympic Committee (NNOC) in conjunction with Olympic Solidarity.
The aim of the course was to provide a unique opportunity for Olympic sport organizations, national federations and organizations responsible for the development of Olympic sports in Namibia to acquire and develop relevant administrative skills. Local sport consultant, Quinton Steele-Botes, took participants through the ropes during the course.
The curriculum consisted of six sessions spread over one year and included topics such as strategic management, managing human resources, finances, as well as marketing and organizing major sports events.
“I am happy to say that all eleven students passed and will receive their diplomas at the graduation ceremony on the 9th of May at Arebusch lodge,” said Botes, who was assisted by Namibia’s MEMOS (Masters in Sports Organization Management) graduates, Ndeuli Hamutumwa and Heiko Diehl.
Botes also announced that the NNOC is to host two sports leadership courses later this year. The next advanced management course is slated for the 2nd half of next year.
