WINDHOEK– Happy pictures of Africans embracing and enjoying the sights of Chinese royal dolls, glorious temples and inhaling the fragrance of eastern herbs is important to show that Africans are indeed civilised, says Chinese Ambassador to Namibia, Xin Shunkang.

Xin made these remarks during the opening of the “Africans in China” photo exhibition showcasing in the Gustav Voights Shopping Mall foyer.

The photography exhibition is a colourful collection of Africans visiting China for a variety of reasons. Judged by these photographs, Africans appear to be very fond of Martial arts with quite a number enrolling for these activities at the Temple of Shaolin of Martial arts.“These pictures show that Africans are treated well by China, as you can see on these pictures they are happy. Africa is a very important part in hope for many people. It has a big market and a greater percentage is developed,”explains Xin.

He also notes that Africans are afraid to visit China, hence this exhibition to show how Africans are treated once they arrive in China. Many of the pictures are that of business people having seemingly positive meetings with their Chinese counterparts. Others are that of African sports men and women enjoying the skills exchange in China.

The exhibition was staged by Xinhua News Agency, and is to encourage Africans to see the other side of the coin- that they are welcome to visit China.
