By Kuvee Kangueehi Windhoek All is set for the Swapo Party Central Committee meeting tomorrow (Thursday) in the capital. The Central Committee meeting will be officially opened by the party president Dr Sam Nujoma. It will mainly endorse a number of proposals made by the Politburo at its last meeting. The Politburo at its last meeting proposed November 30 to December 1 this year as the dates for the congress and the Central Committee is expected to sanction the date. The Central Committee is also expected to endorse the appointment of Swapo Party chief whip Hage Geingob and Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly Doreen Sioka to the Politburo. Although everybody is eargerly waiting for the Central Committee to set the agenda for the end-of-the-year congress, the meeting tomorrow is expected to be less dramatic as there will be no nominations on the agenda. However, the last Central Committee meeting before the congress, which might take place in October, should be more dramatic. A number of regions such as Oshana, Erongo, Karas, Omusati and Okavango have completed their regional conferences to determine the delegates to the congress. The majority of the regions are yet to hold their regional conferences. Regions such as Omaheke are still struggling to complete the process because of some squabbles in some districts. The ongoing squabbles in Otjombinde have delayed the holding of a district conference in the area and subsequently the completion of the regional conference. The Swapo Party Women Council (SPWC) is the only wing that held its congress. The Swapo Party Youth League (SPYL) congress will be held on August 17 at the Windhoek Technical High School, while the Swapo Party Elders Council (SPEC) will hold theirs in September.
