Andre, Uerikua shine at leadership awards

SWAKOPMUND, 25 JUL (NAMPA) –  Governors Neville Andre Itope (Erongo) and James Uerikua (Otjozondjupa) received the Best African Governor awards at the ninth African Business Leadership Awards in London in the United Kingdom last week.

The awards are organised by African Leadership Magazine, a Pan-African media platform established in 2010, which showcases the best of Africa to a global audience.

The awards honour exceptional business leaders, policymakers and organisations for their significant contributions to Africa’s socio-economic development.

“Receiving this award is testament to how far we have come, and the milestones we can achieve in our lifetime. It is, to my knowledge, the first time a regional governor from our country has received such an honour,” he expressed.

The awards’ board, “Uerikua’s nomination for these honours is a testament to his remarkable strides in governance, particularly in the restoration of democracy through principles of openness, transparency, accountability, and inclusivity. His proactive engagement with relevant stakeholders further underscores his commitment to fostering collaborative partnerships that yield tangible results and propel sustainable development initiatives forward.”
