Angolan allegedly killed for making noise

RUNDU – A 40-year-old Angolan national was allegedly stabbed to death with a knife on Friday for allegedly making noise. 

The deceased was a cattle herder at Okalonga village, in the Oshikoto region,

The police arrested a 29-year-old Namibian male suspect in this case. “It is alleged that the suspect approached the victim and other patrons who were in a conversation and he claimed that they are making noise and he, the suspect started to hit them with a knife on their heads,’’ the police said in a report.

“The deceased allegedly told the suspect that what he was doing was not right and then an argument erupted between the suspect and victim. The victim tried to run away but the suspect chased after him and in the process, the victim fell down. The suspect then stabbed the deceased with a knife on the left eye and in the heart and he died on the spot,” the report said. Meanwhile, in Katima Mulilo, Zambezi region, a case of murder was recorded yesterday after a 21-year-old was allegedly killed by way of assault with an iron bar at around 06h00 in New Cowboy Compound. It is alleged that the deceased, Makata Deon Kwamana, a Namibian male, died on the scene after he was hit with an iron bar all over his body, by two suspects, who since fled.

In Windhoek, Wanaheda, a 28-year-old man was killed at about 22h30 on Saturday in Omuvapu Street of Okahandja Park. It is alleged that the deceased died after he was allegedly stabbed with an Okapi knife. He sustained two wounds, one on the left side of the neck and another at the back of his head. A 22-year-old man was arrested.

Meanwhile, at Outjo, an offender who was reported to have escaped from police custody in December last year, died after he was shot during an attempt by the Namibian Police to re-arrest him on Saturday. Petrus Komonjila David died due to a gunshot wound at around 04h30 at Erf no B16/0013 ‘Kap en Bou’ location.

“It is alleged that the deceased escaped from Outjo police holding cells on 24 December 2021 and was also a wanted person on a stock theft case. The next of kin were informed,” the report stated.

In the Omusati region, a case of murder and concealment of birth was reported on Saturday at 13h00 at Omaumba village, Tsandi constituency. It is alleged the arrested suspect, who is a 22-year-old Namibian woman, gave birth to a baby girl, dumped her in the mud and the baby died. 

An inquest was registered in Otjimbingwe settlement in the Erongo region, when a body of a 61-year-old Namibian man, Michael Kamuvaka was discovered in his room by family members. His next of kin were informed. Another inquest was recorded at Otjiwarongo, where a 10-year-old boy allegedly drowned in the water pond behind Acacia Park on Friday at around 16h00.  It is alleged that the deceased, Paulo Simon Tulonga, drowned in a pond where he was swimming with others. He allegedly slipped into the deep side of the pond where he drowned. Again in Otjiwarongo on Saturday, at around 16h59, it was reported that Daniel Daniel (25) hanged himself with an electric cable in his bedroom. The deceased’s body was discovered by his housemate. His next of kin were informed. 

In Oshakati, on Saturday, in the house of Lebeus Katengele at Ohadiwa village, it is alleged that the deceased, Katengele Fikameni Natangwe (20), a Namibian male, also hanged himself with an electric cable in his sleeping room.
