Police in Oshikoto Region have arrested a 30-year-old Angolan national on allegations he raped a Grade 7 learner.
It is alleged that some time during August the suspect attacked the 14-year-old girl and had sexual intercourse with her under coercive circumstances.

The rape allegedly took place on several occasions at Ohailombo village in Omuthiya Constituency, but the Angolan was only arrested on Saturday night. He is expected to appear in Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court today.

In an unrelated matter, police in Oshikoto have opened a case of negligent and reckless driving against a 48-year-old driver, who reportedly drove into a pedestrian near Omuthiya.

According to Deputy Regional Commander of Oshikoto Regional Police Deputy Commissioner Naomi Katjiua the incident took place last Friday at around 23h00.

The 48-year-old pedestrian, identified as Jackson David Zemburuka, was trying to cross the road at Omadhiya village, when he was hit by a green Toyota Ipsum. He sustained several fractures from the accident.

He was rushed to Onandjokwe Hospital where he is still receiving treatment.

His condition is reported to be stable.
